How To Safely Trailer Your Personal Watercraft
Instructions on Trailering Your Personal Watercraft
- Take your time!!!!!
- Lift or back up trailer onto ball.
- Crank wheel jack up fully and rotate so that it is level with trailer.
- Make sure tongue is fully on ball and lock latch and secure with cotter pin.
- Lift up and down on trailer tongue to make sure it is secure.
- Install safety chains, make sure they have no kinks and are secured with clasps closed.
- Plug in wiring harness and make sure enough wire is there for full movement of trailer.
- Check correct operation of turn indicators and brake lights.
- Check bow eye strap and rear strap on each watercraft to ensure they are snug and secure and that no metal is rubbing on unit.
- Install covers and make sure they are snapped under rub rail on each craft.
- Check tire pressure. Recommended pressure is 45 psi.
- If leaving trailer, make sure it is locked to your vehicle and tongue lock is installed at all times when you are not with the vehicle and trailer.
- Make sure all the tires are chalked correctly.

Launching and Placing Watercraft on Trailer
- Take your time!!!!
- Start engine for no more than 10 seconds to check correct operation.
- Release strap on stern of watercraft and store.
- Make sure both drain plugs are closed and secure.
- Back trailer into water about 1/3 of the way up the watercraft support rails. Chalk tires and set emergency brake.
- Release bow strap and push watercraft off of trailer.
- When starting watercraft, if close to trailer make sure craft is in reverse (when engine is turned on watercraft will always be in motion).
- Slowly pull trailer out of water and store.
- Back trailer into water about 1/3 of the way up the watercraft support rails. Chalk tires and set emergency brake.
- Slowly maneuver watercraft towards trailer and line up bow with winch on trailer. Turn off engine about 5 feet from trailer. Secure bow strap and winch watercraft up to bow stop.
- Slowly pull trailer out of water. Unscrew drain plugs and let water drain, close when water is done draining.
- Secure stern strap making sure no metal is rubbing against watercraft.
- Check all trailer connections to ensure they are secure.
- Cover watercraft.
